friday fun: mosaic madness?

well, it’s bank holiday weekend and in good english tradition it seems determined to be a wet one! so i thought a colourful offering was in order for this week’s friday fun post. situated on a quiet, suburban street in chiswick, the treatment rooms are a striking statement. although the beautiful, bold mosaics always make me smile whenever i have occasion to walk past this house, i’ve often wondered what the neighbours think. now, thanks to an ancient interview with the treatment rooms’ owner and creator (that i dug up on t’interwebs), i know they don’t seem to mind all that much.

it’s been fascinating to watch the murals slowly envelop this otherwise ordinary end of terrace over the years. i wish i had some before and after shots! i certainly recommend reading the afore mentioned interview with the rather excellently named baroness von reichardt to get a glimpse of the meaning behind some of the mosaics.

i’ll leave you with some close-ups. have a happy (and hopefully colourful) bank holiday!
